Aventure documents the first musical encounter between the Danish-based improv trio "Thou Sonic Friend" and the renowned French percussionist, Toma Gouband, which took place live at Koncertkirken, Copenhagen during the Winter Jazz Festival in 2022. Gouband is a master improviser known for his iconic 'arranged drumset,' that includes an assemblage of materials from the natural environment.

The artistic vision of Aventure is to focus on the fundamentals of improvisation: risk, presence in the moment, and the finely tuned response to what is. This vision is followed through in this album, in both text and sound, as well as in the live concert recording format. All the music on Aventure is improvised.

Aventure sonically depicts the breathless moment where two musical worlds meet for the first time and begin to speak, fluctuate, and merge. From the first sound of stone against stone to the last breath of this initial meeting, the listener is taken on a cohesive journey where both questions and answers, as well as the silences in between, open the doors to a deep and different way of experiencing music.

Gouband's polyrhythmic world of stones, wood, and objects is the common thread around which the trio weaves its epic narrative in a telepathic interplay where everything is possible and allowed, and therefore anything can happen. With Aventure, Thou Sonic Friend and Toma Gouband have created a sonic manifesto on the essence of existence, which can be considered a continuation of Thou Sonic Friend's playful and liberating approach to improvisation.
